4/13/2020-Local automotive repair business, Tuffy Tire & Auto Service Center, has not only created a COVID-19 airborne pathogen protection barrier, but a visual that’s inviting and car-guy cool!

Local Tuffy owner & operator, Ron Byrd, manufactured the barrier from automotive exhaust pipe and other related parts. From random automotive parts to an artistic design, the barrier is truly an eye-catching piece.   Functional and unique, the barrier is mounted between the counter and ceiling with welded steel plates that stabilize the structure.  The barrier’s 22” long stainless-steel exhaust tips guide customers from the entrance to the safe counter area.  Once there, a 48”x33” oversized lexan barrier is certain to keep airborne transmissions at bay.

About the owner - Ron Byrd has owned and operated the Lake In The Hills, IL Tuffy location since 2016 and can professionally perform most anything on a vehicle.  Prior to Tuffy, Ron had spent over 30 plus years working in the automotive industry.  Ron’s passion for the automotive repair is evident in the relationships he’s developed with his customers as his number one concern remains keeping customers’ vehicles on the road, while keeping everyone in the community healthy during these trying times.
